Palmer-Donavin is a leader in the wholesale distribution of residential building supplies (i.e. siding, roofing, decking, flooring, cabinetry, etc.). Our customers are businesses such as Lowe’s, Carter Lumber, Home Depot, and many independent lumber yards. Our mission is to grow our business through innovation, performance, and integrity. How do we do that? Through motivated employee owners committed to lifelong learning and the growth of our organization.
At Palmer-Donavin, we are not just looking for employees; we are looking for business partners. Being 100% employee-owned and operated, everyone in the PD family shares a commitment to ownership. As an ESOP, we offer the unique experience to work like an owner but commit to a work-life balance in keeping family a priority. Since 1907, our success has depended on the success of our customers and our employees. For our customers, that means delivering quality products and exceptional customer service at fair prices. For our employees, that means sharing the profits of our company.
The average day as a day shift employee will begin at 7:00am. During the shift, you will be unloading incoming trucks from our vendors, scanning material into inventory, and stocking it in the warehouse. On average, you will be receiving 12-15 trucks per day. The role is very fast paced and requires the ability to multi-task. You will be trained in each area of the warehouse and need to be willing to work in whichever area has the most need. These areas include countertops, cabinets, receiving, staging, and will call. There will be required overtime during our busy season, and you will still receive 40 hours during our slower months. Generally, the shift will end around 3:30 pm.
This is a seasonal position beginning mid-May through August.
Your role on the day shift is extremely important as you run will call and interact directly with customers. Customer service is extremely important to keep our business growing. The accuracy and efficiency of your work also directly impacts the other warehouse shifts as well. The team is family-oriented and approachable with any questions you may have as you start out and as you continue your career at Palmer-Donavin.
Palmer-Donavin takes pride in promoting talent from within the organization. Warehouse employees start at level 1. Upon mastering your job duties and maintaining a positive attitude, there are opportunities to be promoted to levels 2 and 3 (Team Lead). There are also Shift Supervisors and Operations Manager positions at each branch. The team has leadership development tracks that focus on coaching, leading change, delivering feedback, and dealing with conflict. Finally, being part of the safety committees is a leadership opportunity for high performers. At Palmer-Donavin, you make your own destiny.
