As a Buyer, your primary duties will include purchasing merchandise and commodities as well as analyzing past buying trends, sales records, prices, and quality of merchandise. Other responsibilities include selecting, ordering, and authorizing payment for merchandise according to contractual agreements and conducting meetings with sales personnel to introduce new products.
Negotiate prices, discount terms, and transportation arrangements for merchandise
Examine, select, order, and purchase merchandise consistent with quality, quantity, specification requirements, etc.
Monitor and analyze sales records, trends, or economic conditions to anticipate customer buying patterns and determine how much inventory is needed
Authorize payment of invoices or return of merchandise
Interview and work closely with vendors to obtain and develop desired products
Compare transportation options to determine the most efficient and cost effective methods
Evaluate alternative vendors and place emergency orders for parts, materials, or supplies
High School Graduate or GED required, Bachelor’s Degree preferred, in Business or related field
1 or more years of experience in purchasing or sales
High attention to detail
